Christian fellowship is a great thing. And family is a great thing too. I am blessed to have good friends, and brothers who are Christ-minded servants. Last night, a missionary friend of mine who had been flying standby was going to have the pleasure of sleeping in the Atlanta airport. There were no plans made for him once he got there, and I couldn't get hold of him while he was on the plane. So, I called up my brothers who live in the Atlanta area, and they drove up to the airport (a good 45 minute to an hour drive), not sure if when they got there he would want to just stay there or come back with them or what...

Well, from the sounds of it, he was happy to sleep in a soft bed, not worrying about someone grabbing his stuff or anything - even if it was on a Lightning McQueen pillow! But, anyway, isn't it great to be a part of a bigger Family? To the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Now, if only they can get him out of Atlanta today...

Helpful Friends

It's good to have friends. Last night a few of my friends and their families came over and helped us our with our cars. We got new brakes for our minivan, and found the little hole in the muffler that needs to get patched up. I wish I knew more about cars. We also found that "my" car that died on me last week, does really have some major problems. I was worried that I did or didn't do something silly that they were just going to say something like, Hey, idiot, you have turn the key for it to start... but happily it did turn out to be something serious... happily?

Anyway, I'm truly blessed to have great friends. Now, if only they would leave maybe just a little bit earlier next time, it would have made today easier. But that's another issue.

And you know what? It turns out that all of my friends that came over last night with their families are part of our Home Bible Study that meets at our house on Friday nights. I've experienced something over the past 6 years or so - the best friends that I have in my life are those friends which whom I participate in Christian fellowship - not bellyship, fellowship. Whether it be in a Bible Study or Institute Class, or if it be involved with a ministry together, they are the ones that always seem to be my closest friends. Christianity is really a good way to live.

Now, if only that second car was working... ah, whatever.

Iron hurts

Proverbs tells us that iron sharpens iron. Here's my thought for this lunch-time (this is neat, actually, it's lunch-time right now and I'm thinking, and writing it down - like the way it was originally supposed to be!). Iron hurts!

Yeah, if you want to get sharp as a Christian, you'll only get sharpened if you go up against something that hurts. We (you, with your comments and I, with my post) mentioned yesterday men that will push people. They will not allow you to follow along the status quo, but will make your life uncomfortable if you're trying to take the easy street.

As experience shows us, this method of sharpening works! It's almost like God knew what He was writing about in Proverbs! But the real question we should be thinking about is this: How come we don't want to be that iron that sharpens others? Is it because we don't want others to hate us? Because, frankly, experience also teaches us that often people don't like "Iron." Quit you like men, do all things with charity, but Iron hurts!
