All His. No Right to Myself

1 Corinthians 6:20: For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

On January 12, 1723, I made a solemn dedication of myself to God, and wrote it down; giving up myself, and all that I had to God; to be for the future, in no respect, my own; to act as one that had no right to himself, in any respect. And solemnly vowed, to take God for my whole portion and felicity; looking on nothing else, as any part of my happiness, nor acting as if it were; and his law for the constant rule of my obedience: engaging to fight, with all my might, against the world, the flesh, and the devil, to the end of my life.

But I have reason to be infinitely humbled, when I consider, how much I have failed, of answering my obilgation.

- You probably did not realize that I was that old, huh? Now, that you read through that once, I would encourage you to read through it again a little bit slower, taking a minute to think about what is really being said.

Jonathan Edwards was regretful that it took him so long to come to his recognition of this type of spiritual commitment to God. I mean it wasn't until he was 19 years old that he wrote that down.

God

Well, Lord willing, I will be graduating from North Star Bible Institute next May. One of the requirements is my thesis, and yesterday I started working on it some more. I began writing on the doctrine of God the Father.

I'm not going to share my actual writing on the subject, but instead I just wanted to write about how encouraging it was to me to think on God. At times, I would find myself studying to learn the attributes of God, which is good, but at other times, I was able to actually find myself getting to know God better.

(Psa 104:34) My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the
LORD.
Just thinking on God today...

Silence

Shhhh...

Everybody quiet...

Was that difficult for you? It seems that silence is such a difficult thing for many people to deal with in America. We would not dare allow silence on the radio or on TV, and of course that has spilled over into the church service where we can't allow there to be any dead air-space. On our drives, we have the music going - not even necessarily vain or bad music, but it's playing and making noise.

When there's nothing going on, you have a tendency to... brace yourselves... to Think. You might find yourself contemplating the things of God.

So, my challenge to all of you - turn off your radios/CDs/tapes in the car for one week. Good or bad - and see how it goes.

Be still and know that I [not I as in Andy, but as in the LORD] am God.
