Losing Friends...

Section 11180 of the NYS Vehicle & Traffic Law pt. d: "... whenever maximum speed limits... have been established ... no person shall drive in excess of such maximum speed limits at any time."

1 Peter 2:13-14: "Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well."

From an attorney website: "Consulting with an attorney I have been told that there is a grace speed of 5 miles-an-hour that is not prosecuted."

Romans 6:1: "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?"

Romans 6:2: "God forbid..."

Just a thought...

Did you get a speeding ticket recently?

No, this is not an attempt to create more traffic. (Huh?)

No, I'm not short on material today, I had another post already written...

No, I did not get a speeding ticket recently - unless 8 years ago is recent. (I did get pulled over recently for going 13 over, and I have repented for that - I did it ignorantly [I was half asleep])...

I'm very negative today, huh?

i try to stick to that when ever i remember to..... i forget alot! but i do try to submit to the laws of the land, even when it comes to speeding. i have only had one speeding ticket in my 14 years of driving - not bad eh?

We ought to obey God rather than man, right? So, by disobeying man's law of a speed limit, I am obeying God by being a good steward of time and accomplishing His work faster.

Think a trooper would buy that one?

This is a good reminder that obedience to God includes obedience to Government (Rom 13:1; 2 Pet 2:10).

OOOOHHHH.... I get it (the 1st comment on this post)... Anonymous meant, create more traffic to this blog - I thought he/she was talking about creating more traffic on the road, and I didn't get that. It all makes sense to me now!

No, this wasn't an attempt to create more traffic. I truly don't understand why pretty much every Christian thinks it's ok to drive as fast as they want, as long as it's slow enough that they won't get pulled over -- they're willing to go the grace speed, and not the limit set by the law.

Andy, I agree that we should obey the speed limit. This is something that Christians overlook for whatever reason. I did a little experiment on my way home from work yesterday though and tried to monitor the speedometer closely and stay right at the speed limit.

It was, well, interesting. In the middle lane I had cars flying around me in both lanes, other cars riding on my tail extremely close and then careening off into the next lane when they got a chance, and a number of dirty looks.

Here's what I learned - we're supposed to look different to the world, they should be able to tell that we are Christians. Well, we can start looking different by doing something very simple, like obeying the posted speed limit!
